Yohoho, a pirates life for me!

Post by cooke4444 on 2012-02-18, 18:10

Ahoy me hearties!

Ever wanted to be a pirate? (And I mean a cool pirate, not those in Somalia Wink )
This is your chance! (after being athlete, cyclist, tennis player, zombie,...)

And what's even better... You can win lots of BEF and gold with it!

How to play

Well, you're a pirate. (duh Rolling Eyes ) (time period: 1650-1730) You spend all of your money to a ship and a crew. Ready to pillage the seas?

You need to select some things (like the zombie game, remember?)

1) Ship

What kind of ship did you bought?

Choices:

- Sloop (+: fast, -: small)
- Galleon (+: heavy guns, -: slow)
- Schooner (+: average in speed and able to hold a large crew, -: storage capacity)
- Square-rigger (+: big, -: skill needed)
- Brig (+: low to the sea level, -: small)

Feel free to name your ship! Everybody can take ONE!

2) Hiding place

This is your "home". From here you start every piracy move. !This will affect your game experience drastically! It will also affects which pirates you "meet" (continents) and which other nations you will pillage.

Choices:

Caribbean: Trinidad&Tobago (Boklevski), Dominica (Boer Jan), St. Kitts&Nevis (Fhaemita Malodorous), Grenada (Keukenroll), Barbados (Bert_en_Ernie), Bermuda (Nohjis), Cayman Islands (Critically), St. Lucia (MaryamQ)
North-Africa: Tunis (Sammy Tanghe), Tripoli (Jonathan Clay), Algiers (AndreasC), Salé (Karakoran),Sicily (El1temkd)
India: Bombay (Lisa van Neste), Ceylon (Djony), Mangalore, Puri, Akyab
East-Africa: Madagascar (Cotarius), Comoros, Seychelles (SX80), Reunion, Mauritius (Takeshi Kitano)

If there are not enough places due to the amount of pirates, just post in which continent you would like to start. Try to spread out a bit. If a continent is full and there are still other places open, you should take these.

3) Feel free to post a pic Wink

Those are all the choices. Yes, it isn't that much to do, but wait for it, cuz...

So you've joined...

After a while (can't say a date right now) the game will start. What now?

Well I give a situation to you, and you have to respond it (via forum).

f.e. (short version, in the game it will be more awesome Wink ): A fleet of Spanish ships (3 galleons, 2 sloops) is passing by. What do you do?

In this case, you got the option to attack or to let it go. If you attack you HAVE to mention if it's your objective to plunder the ships, to take them over or just to destroy them. This will affect your tactics (which I will explain in a nice report Razz )

As you can see in the example, you can take over ships. This is useful for beginning a fleet. Or you can plunder, so you get "points". These points will be translated at the end of the game in gold or BEF.

Watch out! If you make a fatal decision (like going into a fight with a half-wrecked ship against 500 guns Wink ), you can be killed or captured! This will result in elimination and you will receive your money.

You can use your "points" to repair your ship, buy crew or to buy new ships.

Don't worry if it all seems difficult and chaotic, more info comes as the game progresses, also it is recommended to check the game out every 36h!

An example to join:

Ship: Sloop "Satan's child" Twisted Evil
Place: Trinidad & Tobago

My picture as a pirate:

Pirate language is appreciated!

1650

Situations for the Caribbean pirates

Boklevski

The Spanish are still exploring the coasts of South America. At the end of the Orinoco, you see a small Spanish sloop that's waiting for something or someone.
What do you do?
- Plunder it
- Take it over
- Destroy it
- Leave it alone

Boer Jan

You see some small Spanish trading vessels going to South America. They seem unguarded, but they are moving very cautious.
What do you do?
- Plunder them
- Destroy them
- Leave them alone

Fhaemita Malodorous

You see some small Spanish trading vessels going to South America. They seem unguarded, but they are moving very cautious.
What do you do?
- Plunder them
- Destroy them
- Leave them alone

Keukenroll

A large Spanish ship is very close to your Island. It doesn't seem protected, but as it doesn't seem a war vessel, it's useless to take it over.
What do you do?
- Plunder it
- Destroy it
- Leave it alone

Bert_en_Ernie

Everything seems peacefull at sea... But on one of the northern islands, the British seem to try to colonize it. This could become a stronghold for them in the future.
What do you do?
- Attack the ships, destroying them
- Embark on the other side of the island and attack them on land
- Leave them alone
- Blockade them, and demand to surrender

Nohjis

The British try to invade your island. They have superior firing power and seem to be well-trained.
What do you do?
- Flee to another island
- Fight on land
- Flee at first, than come back to try to destroy their ships
- Surrender and try to negotiate

Critically

A huge fleet of Spanish Man-o-war's is passing by. Capturing one could mean the start of a huge fleet yourself, but is it worth the risk?
What do you do?
- Try to destroy them
- Try to take one over
- Leave them alone
- See where they are going

MaryamQ

You see some small Spanish trading vessels going to South America. They seem unguarded, but they are moving very cautious.
What do you do?
- Plunder them
- Destroy them
- Leave them alone

Situations for the Barbarian pirates

Sammy Tanghe

A small Spanish brig is passing by. There seems to be no other vessel in the area.
What do you do?
- Capture it
- Destroy it
- Plunder it
- Leave it alone

Jonathan Clay

The Ottoman Empire is coming to you with a treaty for better trade. They are your only allies in the Mediterrean sea. However, this increases the chance to get intercepted yourself and to become a puppet of the Ottomans.
What do you do?
- Sign it
- Leave it alone and upset the Ottomans
- Kill the messenger

AndreasC

Two Spanish sloops are passing by. One seems heavily damaged.
What do you do?
- Attack the damaged one, destroy it
- Attack the damaged one, capture it
- Attack the other one, destroy it
- Attack the other one, capture it
- Leave it alone

Karakoran

A Portugese brig is passing by.
What do you do?
- Plunder it
- Take it over
- Destroy it
- Leave it alone

El1temkd

The Spanish are building a new port on Sardinia. If it's a trading port, it could mean more chances to plunder. If it's a dockyard, you can be in trouble.
What do you do?
- Leave it alone
- Destroy it from sea
- Invade Sardinia

Situations for East-African pirates

Cotarius

In the mountains, there is a small kingdom. You don't know how strong it is, but if you whipe them out, you can concentrate on the seas.
What do you do?
- Leave it alone
- Attack with your whole crew
- Negotiate
- Do a covered operation

SX80

The northern islands are under attack of Portugese militia. It doesn't seem a lot of people, but it is possible that they are well trained.
What do you do?
- Leave it alone
- Attack their ships
- Capture their ships
- Attack on land

Takeshi Kitano

No ship has passed...
What do you do?
- Improve the ship
- Improve island defences
- Improve living conditions
- Take a break

Situations for Indian pirates

Lisa van Neste

As the Mughal empire was forced to sign an agreement with the Portugese, trade has been booming lately. This can be useful for you to stay out of trouble with the Portugese, but it will put a limit on your actions.
What do you do?
- Nothing
- Destroy Portugese ships to increase fear
- Destroy Mughal ships to increase fear
- Negotiate

Djony

The Dutch are building a port on Ceylon. They seem to have no idea that you're in the way.
What do you do?
- Leave them alone
- Attack via sea
- Attack on land
- Negotiate

That's it! You have till Sunday 18.00h BEL time to post your answer. No answer can result in huge problems. Good luck!

Darn British, must teach them a lesson.

I uh...
Flee at first, than come back to try to destroy their ships

The men are motivated with a speech around the following theme:
Using "the cloak of the Bermuda triangle" magical power of the Triangle we evade and attack their ships by surprise.

I hope this will work...

(Don't worry, Maryam... The MaryamQ will still be my flagship... Razz)

Nice scenarios, Cooke! Smile
How will an outcome be determined, by the way?

My galleon Helios has heavy guns in it - it should not be a problem to destroy that port in Sardinia by sea. I will do that!

Oh, and looking at the mentioned empires (especially Mughal), cities/regions (like Ceylon) and terminology (dockyard/trading post), you really, REALLY have spent too much time in Empire: Total War.

Cotarius

In the mountains, there is a small kingdom. You don't know how strong it is, but if you whipe them out, you can concentrate on the seas.
What do you do?
- Leave it alone
- Attack with your whole crew
- Negotiate
- Do a covered operation

I'm a pirat not a secret agency atack with whole crew.

I loved it. (Nearly as good as Rome: Total War, but that's still the best in the series.) Been a while since I played it, though. Started with Netherlands, but all the different maps and seafaring got too complicated for me... so I started again and finished the game with Russia... saved me the hassle of going to other continents (except for kicking Ottomans' asses in Asia) Razz

Hmm... should start it up again some day soon... Wink

Oh, wait... that wasn't the topic here... Razz

A small Spanish brig is passing by. There seems to be no other vessel in the area.
What do you do?
- Capture it
- Destroy it
- Plunder it
- Leave it alone

I'll capture it. But first, I shoot at it slightly so it gets damaged enough so it can't run away. I'll shoot those double ball salvos that inflict heavy damage upon the sails. Will teach them!

Sign it I like Ottomans

As the Mughal empire was forced to sign an agreement with the Portugese, trade has been booming lately. This can be useful for you to stay out of trouble with the Portugese, but it will put a limit on your actions.
What do you do?
- Nothing
- Destroy Portugese ships to increase fear
- Destroy Mughal ships to increase fear
- Negotiate

A large Spanish ship is very close to your Island. It doesn't seem protected, but as it doesn't seem a war vessel, it's useless to take it over.
What do you do?
- Plunder it
- Destroy it
- Leave it alone

My crew is eager to see some action and the ship seems fat enough to be carrying some hidden treasures. Also, we're runnin' low on rum, so let's see if we can refill our stock!

Leave them alone, if they came from South America, there could be some gold on board, now there are empty
